WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins men's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 loss to West Liberty on Wednesday evening in Mountain East Conference play at the West Family Complex.

West Liberty's Jasper Newton scored the lone goal of the match in the 45th minute off an assist from Joao Victor Sylvino. The Senators outshot the Hilltoppers 16-10 and held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks but couldn't find the equalizer in the second half.

Chinedu Ikem and Anthony Pereira each recorded two shots on goal, while goalkeeper Charlie Phillips made two saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Senators move to 6-3-3 overall and 6-2-3 in MEC play.

Davis & Elkins returns home Sunday, Oct. 19, for a 2 p.m. kickoff against the University of Charleston at Nuttall Field for their Code Red Game.
