ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins men's basketball team turned in a strong offensive performance Saturday, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan, 89-81, in Mountain East Conference action at the McDonnell Center.
Nicolas Silva led the Senators with a game-high 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. Charleston Ponds added 21 points, including four three-pointers, while Malachi Hampton contributed 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Ja'Kobe Strozier chipped in with eight points and four boards, while Kerem Sariaslan scored eight points in a key reserve role.
The Senators (7-11, 4-7 MEC) shot 56% from the field, including 10-of-18 from beyond the arc, and out-rebounded the Bobcats 38-19. Silva was dominant in the paint, and Davis & Elkins capitalized on 17 second-chance points to seal the win.
