Buckhannon, W.Va. -- The Senators broke the single season wins record by picking up their 12th win of the season against West Virginia Wesleyan. The win broke the previous record of 11 wins that was set in 2019. The win also made David Pomeroy the winningest coach in program history as he collected his 21st win as head coach.
The Senators scored first just two minutes into the game but the rest of the first period would be controlled by the Bobcats as they took a 4-2 lead into the second period. The Senators would bounce back and take control by outscoring the Bobcats 5-2 in the second period to take a 7-6 lead into halftime.
The third period would be back-and-forth as each team would score four goals and the score was 11-10 going into the fourth period. The Senators would put the game out of reach early in the fourth period as they scored the first five goals of the period to take a 16-10 lead with only two minutes remaining.
Ari Hinton led the offensive attack with five goals, an assist and seven draw controls.
Rylee Anderson chipped in with three goals and 2 assists while
Ke'ya Stevens also scored three goals and added an assist.
Emelia Johnson and
Morgan Rogers each added two goals for the Senators.
Marissa Cuevas was solid in goal picking up the win with 14 saves and caused two turnovers.
