Elkins, W.Va. -- A strong shooting performance for West Virginia State in the first half proved to be too much for Davis & Elkins as the Senators fell 93-82 in the McDonnell Center.
Sam Rolle IV led the Senators with 25 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets shot a blistering 17-24 (70.83%) from the field in the first half while holding the Senators 11-30 (36.67%) to take a 45-32 lead into halftime.
The Senators would flip the script in the second half catching fire and shooting 19-26 (73.08%) from the field to score 50 points in the half. Davis & Elkins was able to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 85-79 with 2:15 remaining in the game but could close the gap any further.
Charleston Ponds scored 15 points and
Clarens Pierre added 10 points.
Nicolas Silva narrowly missed a double-double with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
