SAINT LEO, Fla. – Davis & Elkins dropped its first game of a three-game spring break series in Florida Sunday to Saint Leo University 21-4.
Saint Leo jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period.
D&E scored its first goal midway through the period when
Joshua Allegra found
Tre Turner with a pass that Turner shot into the back of the goal.
Saint Leo scored six more goals in the period to take a 10-1 lead following the first period.
The Senators scored first in the second period when Turner again scored, this time on a
Nolan Morrison assist.
Saint Leo scored the next four goals in the second period and held a 14-2 advantage at the half.
It was all Saint Leo in the third period as they scored three unanswered goals.
In the fourth, Saint Leo opened the scoring with a pair of goals to go up 19-2. Morrison scored with 8:09 remaining off an Allegra assist. Saint Leo scored two more to go up 21-3 and then
Zach Lontayao scored as time expired off a Morrison assist.
Morrison scored a goal and had two assists in the contest to lead the Senators with three points. Turner led D&E in goals with two.
Robert Stephenson had four ground balls and
Buddy Brown and
Thomas Schroeder each had three.
