PHILIPPI, W.Va. - The Davis & Elkins College softball team continued their hot form with a sweep of Alderson Broaddus University on Sunday. D&E has now won nine of their last ten games. The Senators have an impressive 9-3 record in the Mountain East Conference.
Game One
Davis & Elkins dominated the Battlers in game one winning 15-0. D&E scored five runs in the first inning and ten in the third on the way to shut out five inning win. Honesty Holt got things started with a home run in the first, brining in Linzey Allard and Mia Mendoza to take a 3-0 lead. Jules Gutierrez followed up with a homer of her own bringing in Maddie Lavelle to extend the score to 5-0.
The third inning was packed with eight hits and 10 runs from the Senators. Gutierrez added another homer bringing home Holt and Allard to make the score 15-0. Jenna Evans was unstoppable, pitching five scoreless innings, scattering three hits and striking out five.
Honesty Holt led the team going 3-3 at the plate, notching five RBI. Lavelle, Gutierrez and Mia Ely all went 2-3 and combined for six RBI.
Game Two
The Battlers looked like they were going to reply in game two, with an early 3-0 lead after the first. However, the Senators dominated the remainder of the game cruising to a 9-3 win. Gutierrez notched her third home run of the day to start the seventh inning and the beginning of the end for the Battlers. Mia Mendoza led the team going 4-5 followed by Sharon Morales who went 2-3. Allard and Lavelle both went 2-4 and combined for seven RBI.
Again, Jenna Evans was solid for D&E, pitching 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

Elle Fracker's softball team moves to 13-18 overall, and 9-3 in the MEC.
Next up is a trip to Buckhannon, West Virginia to take on the Bobcats in a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 2:00pm Wednesday.
