CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's lacrosse team dropped a Mountain East Conference road contest at the University of Charleston Thursday evening. The Golden Eagles utilized a strong second period to earn a 13-9 win.
The two teams played even the first 15 minutes of play and the score read 3-3. Charleston got hot in the second period outscoring the Senators 5-1 to take an 8-4 lead at the break. Both teams would score five goals in the second half.
Ari Hinton led D&E with four points, scoring three goals and assisting on another.
Griselle Rosado had a hat trick.
Emily Smith had two goals and one assist followed by
Sarah Zapata one goal.
Marissa Cuevas had 30 saves in goal.
Davis & Elkins drops to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the MEC.
Charleston improves to 5-6 and 3-2 in the league.
The Senators return to action Sunday afternoon hosting Notre Dame College. Opening draw control is slated for 2:00pm.
