WHEELING, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse team fell to the Wheeling Cardinals 16-6 Saturday afternoon in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
The Cardinals shut out D&E in the first half, taking an 8-0 lead at the break.
Austin Derx would put the Senators on the board at the 11:08 mark of the third period. The two teams would each score four goals in the third frame to make the 12-4 heading into the final 15 minutes. Wheeling would outscore D&E 4-2 in the final quarter to earn a 16-6 GMAC win.
Nolan Morrison netted a hat trick. Morrison also had one assist. Derx,
Travis Scala, and
Robert Stephenson each scored a goal.
Jakob Makarenko picked up five ground balls.
Joshua Csanyi recorded 19 saves.
The Senators fall to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the GMAC.
The Cardinals improve to 3-8 and 1-3 in the league.
D&E returns to action Tuesday evening, hosting Frostburg State.
Opening face-off is slated for 6:00pm.
