LATROBE, Pa. – The Davis & Elkins College women's lacrosse team traveled to Latrobe, Pennsylvania Sunday afternoon for a non-conference match up with Saint Vincent College. The Senators scored five second half goals to earn a hard-fought 7-5 road win.
Ari Hinton opened the scoring finding the back of the net at the 12:33 mark of the first period.
Zoie Donaldson would score with 14 seconds left in the period; she was assisted by Hinton. Joey Smith would put the Bearcats on the board scoring a goal with 7:47 left in the half. Smith would score again to tie it 2-2 at the half. Saint Vincent would take the lead in the third period only to see D&E respond. Hinton would assist
Emily Smith at the 5:54 mark of the period and tie the game 4-4. Hinton would find the net with 1:44 left in the period to put the Senators up for good. Hinton and
Haley Leavines added goals in the fourth period.
Hinton paced the Senators with five points, (three goals and two assists). Smith had two goals followed by
Zoie Donaldson one and Leavines one.
Griselle Rosado picked up seven ground balls,
Haleigh Forand snagged four.
Marissa Cuevas was one again solid in goal. Cuevas had eight saves and picked up four ground balls.
Davis & Elkins improves to 3-3.
Saint Vincent drops to 4-2.
D&E returns home Friday evening, hosting Missouri Western State University at 7pm.
