ELKINS, W.Va. — Lake Erie took control early in the regular season finale for the Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse team, ultimately falling 18-9 on Senior Day at Nuttall Field.
Davis & Elkins (3-5) answered back for the game-tying first goal with a
Sean Adams tally.
Tyler Kolodka had a team-high three goals for the Senators as
Bryce McBee and
Zach Lontayao fired home two each.
David Thorne Jr. stopped 16 shots, tied for a season-high, in between the pipes.
Lake Erie (5-7) posted a run of eight consecutive for an 11-2 lead in the second quarter and did not look back. Lontayao broke the scoring drought with an unassisted tally at 1:44 in the second quarter as D&E trailed 11-3 at the break.
The Storm outscored the Senators 6-1 in the third quarter. D&E scored the final four markers of the game, coming from Morrison, Kolodka and McBee.
Sean Adams scooped up eight ground balls, going 11-24 at the faceoff dot.
Travis Scala added five ground balls with
Jakob Makarenko collecting four more.
LEC held a 57-37 edge in shots on the afternoon.
McBee, along with
Lucas Sosa and
Clay Messinger were recognized on the field prior to the opening faceoff for Senior Day.
