Men's Lacrosse Opens 2021 Season With Road Test at Third-Ranked Seton Hill

Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse begins the 2021 season with a road trip to third-ranked Seton Hill on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM before concluding the week at Wheeling on Saturday. The Senators, picked fifth in the 2021 preseason Great Midwest poll, will open the season after having its opener with Mercyhurst postponed.  
 
The Senators welcome back their leading point producer from last season in Tyler Kolodka. Nolan Morrison also returns after leading the team in shots (40) while ranking third in goals (8). David Thorne Jr. is also back in net after starting all seven games last season. Davis & Elkins is set for a nine-game 2021 slate, beginning the season with three consecutive road contests in addition to the rescheduled game with Mercyhurst.

Volleyball Hosts Opening Round of MEC Tournament

After a straight-set win against the Bobcats in the regular season finale, Davis & Elkins volleyball hosts West Virginia Wesleyan for the opening round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament on Tuesday night.
 
Macie Magallon cracked 16 kills in a balanced effort for the Senators in the win against WVWC on March 5. The Senators are second in the league with 65 service aces and Maria Isabel Butruce Candiota paces the league with .52 aces/set.
 
The semifinals and finals will be played at a single site on March 12-13, announced after the completion of the quarterfinal round.

Men's Tennis Ready for Season Opener

Davis & Elkins men's tennis will open the season at home on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming Fairmont State. The matchup will be the first for head coach Cameron Grant, who took the reins of the program after serving as an assistant last season.
 
The weather forecast looks good for D&E's season opener, which has had limited time outside over the last few weeks. The Senators were selected fifth in the MEC Preseason Poll, while Fairmont State was picked third. Andrew Shand and Obert Matthew Mulyadi are among the top returners for the Senators this season, combining for eight wins in singles action during the shortened 2019-20 season.
 
Wednesday marks the first of two consecutive matchups against Fairmont State for the D&E men's team, which heads to face the Fighting Falcons on the road on March 24.

Men's and Women's Golf Off to North Carolina for Opener

Davis & Elkins men's and women's golf heads to North Carolina for the season opener and first competition since October 2019. Head coach JD Lamm's squad was selected third in the MEC Preseason Poll on the men's side, while the women's team came in at number five in their preseason poll.
 
Jordan Hyland, an All-Region selection last season, returns to lead D&E as a sophomore. Dorothy Romanek is among the top returners for the women's squad after earning All-MEC Honorable Mention accolades last season.

Wrestling Sending Three to 2021 NCAA DII Wrestling Championships in St. Louis
March 12-13 | at NCAA DII National Championships | America's Center | St. Louis, Miss.    
Davis & Elkins had three student-athletes become the first super regional finalists in program history and will represent the Senators at this year's NCAA Wrestling Championships. Craig Cook, Noah Tarr and Kyle Wojtaszek are all returning to nationals for the second consecutive year after the abrupt ending to last season.
 
The trio all picked up second place in their weight classes at the super regional event back on February 27 to lock in their spots. Cook will wrestle at 149 pounds, with Tarr competing at 165 pounds and Wojtaszek at 184 pounds.

Track and Field Begins Outdoor Season at Glenville State

Davis & Elkins is ready for its first outdoor track meet since May 2019 when the Senators travel to Glenville State for the Brandi Bowen Invitational. Dymere Jones will compete on Saturday as part of the decathlon, while the bulk of the team will compete on Sunday.
 
D&E opened the cross country season last week, cruising to a pair of team wins in a winter cross country invitational held at Glendale Park. Emeric Arnaud and Maya Brinson finished first in the respective races, sweeping the MEC Cross Country Runner of the Week award.

Triathlon Set for Second Race in Sunshine State

The D&E triathlon team pieced together a few races during the spring semester, including two down in Florida. The Senators opened the season at the Clermont Draft race on March 6 and will conclude its time in Florida with Sunday's event.
 
Zoe Van Dijk impressed in her collegiate debut, finishing third overall in the last race for D&E with a 1:07:15.1. Eleonora Pierre also cracked the top 10 with a 1:08:21.7 for head coach Chris Hammer's squad, which will cap its abbreviated season in North Carolina on April 17.

Women's Soccer Looks for Bounce Back Effort at WV Wesleyan

In what will be two weeks since opening the season, Davis & Elkins women's soccer will take the field for its first road matchup of the 2021 campaign, visiting West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday. Both squads are looking for their first win following a loss to Frostburg State.
 
Maria Cabal scored for D&E in the opener and Roxanne McFarlin made four saves in her debut in goal. D&E and WV Wesleyan split their two meetings last season with each squad collecting a 1-0 win on the road.

Acrobatics & Tumbling Set for Home Opener

Looking to build off the momentum of a program-high score against West Liberty, Davis & Elkins will welcome the top projected team in the MEC Preseason Poll, welcoming Fairmont State on Sunday. The Senators posted improvements in five of six events against West Liberty, on their way to a 244.355.
 
Deanna Blood won the NCATA Specialist of the Week award for her performance in the season-opener against Glenville State. First-year head coach Mariah Ack competed as a student-athlete at Fairmont State, which is under the direction of new head coach Danielle Curti.
 
Sunday marks the first of two home events during the 2021 season for D&E, which visits Frostburg State on March 20.
