Elkins, W.Va. – The Senators mark another tally in the win column against Bluefield State College on Saturday, with the final score being 88-75.
Davis & Elkins went into the first media timeout, down 12-10 and followed with a 30-second timeout at the 6:46 mark still trailing. The next time we saw a stoppage in play was at the 4:32 mark when we stopped for the under five media timeout. D&E had the lead 21-20 and did not give up that lead for the rest of the contest. The Senators went to the locker room up by eight.
Bluefield State made some adjustments and had a few runs to get back in the game. Bluefield State went on an eight-point scoring run in the second half with 10:34 on the clock, eventually being stopped when Dan Mondragon took a time out to get the Senators back on track. That scoring run narrowed the margin to four points in favor of Davis & Elkins. Bluefield State would eventually get the game to one possession when the final media timeout occurred, making the score 68-66. The Senators were determined to finish out the 2021 calendar year and head home for the holidays with a win at home. The final 3:51 favored D&E and when the buzzer sounded, the Senators were victorious, 88-75.
Davis & Elkins was led by none other than
Sam Rolle IV and
Breland Walton. Both leading all scoring in the contest, Rolle IV with 30 and Walton with 19. Walton also tallied thirteen defensive rebounds giving him another double-double to add to his resume.
Evan Busby added 15 points of his own in the Senators win.
The next time D&E hits the hardwood will be on January 3
rd, 2022. They will travel to Salem University.
