Box Score Institute, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins Men's Basketball dropped their regular season opener to Shaw University in the Earl Lloyd Classic on the campus of West Virginia State University.
The Senators dropped a hard-fought game to open up their regular season, 80-76. D&E went into the half down five and made a run in the second half, but Shaw's consistent 40-point halves ended up being enough to hang on to the victory.

A bright spot for the D&E squad moving forward will be their bench play. The Senators bench combined for 28 points; which included 12 points from
Cortney Walton.
In the contest, three other Senators scored double digit points. Those players include,
Evan Busby with 13,
