Lewis Pulls Away from D&E Men's Lacrosse

ELKINS, W. Va — The visiting Lewis Flyers (5-2) used a huge second half to defeat hosting Davis & Elkins (0-7) by a score of 20-6 on Thursday afternoon at Nuttall Field.

Matthew Dyck started off the scoring with his first period goal to give D&E the lead, but Lewis would score four goals in the first period to take a 4-1 lead early. Kyle Durec netted his first of two goals in the second period, as Tyler Kolodka added his second assist of the game. Kolodka found the net himself to cut the deficit to one, and the Flyers held a narrow 5-3 advantage at halftime.

Lewis began the second half with four consecutive goals, before Durec's second goal of the game suspended the Flyers' run with a 9-4 lead. By the time D&E scored again, Lewis had tallied eight more goals to take a commanding lead in the fourth period. Aidan O'Dwyer scored off Kolodka's third assist of the game with 8:35 left in the game, but Lewis added three more goals towards the end of regulation. Nolan Morrison took a Michael Holstein pass in with 26 seconds left, but Lewis came out victorious 20-6.

Duress was the only multi-goal scorer for the Senators, with two goals on six shots. Kolodka finished with four points off one goal and three assists, as the Flyers outshot the Senators 51-24, and won 24 of 29 face offs.
