Women's Lacrosse Opens Home Portion of Schedule This Week

After opening the season with a 1-2 mark, the D&E women's lacrosse team is back in West Virginia to begin the home slate with a pair of games against Edinboro and Maryville before hitting the road to face Saint Vincent College on Sunday. The Senators battled back for a 15-12 win at Southern Wesleyan on March 7, erasing a four-goal second half deficit to claim the victory.
 
Angelina Horan earned Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance over Spring Break, leading the team with 11 goals. She enters the week one point shy of 100 in her D&E career, posting 82 career goals in just over one season. Mackenzie Smegal has a team-best six caused turnovers, while Surelys Baez has gobbled up nine ground balls.
 
Edinboro suffered a 19-4 loss to 19th-ranked Mount Olive on March 9 as Hailey Dobbins registered three goals for the Fighting Scots. Maryville begins its trip to West Virginia with a matchup against West Virginia Wesleyan on March 11 before traveling to Elkins later in the week. Saint Vincent plays its second consecutive road game to start the 2020 campaign against Mt. Aloysius on March 12 before welcoming the Senators on Sunday.

Men's Golf Back on the Course for Browngolf Intercollegiate

Davis & Elkins men's golf returns for its first action of the spring at the Browngolf Intercollegiate in North Carolina. The Senators men's team earned a third-place finish in the MEC Championships and ended the fall season with a second-place showing at the Williams CC Collegiate, hosted by West Liberty. Jordan Hyland and Sean Addie have each carded low rounds of 70 this season for D&E as the Senators look to shake off the rust from a long winter.

Men's Lacrosse Hosts Code Red Game Against Lewis

After a two-game stretch in South Carolina over Spring Break, D&E men's lacrosse is back home in search of its first win this Thursday against Lewis. Tyler Kolodka leads the team with 19 points this season, notching 10 goals and nine assists. Matthew Dyck is the team's leading goal scorer, firing home 13 markers this season. David Thorne Jr. has notched 82 saves this season for D&E.
 
Lewis, which takes on Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday, is paced offensively by Thomas Purfeerst (8G, 5A, 13 Pts.).

Wrestling Sends Four to NCAA DII Nationals

Davis & Elkins will send four competitors to the DII wrestling championships to cap its first year as a program. Craig Cook, Clifton Ruggiero, Noah Tarr and Kyle Wojtaszek will represent the Senators in South Dakota. A full preview will be posted later this week.

Softball Starts Conference Play This Weekend

Wrapping up the nonconference portion of the schedule with an impressive doubleheader sweep of Elizabeth City State, the determined Senators begin conference play with weekend doubleheaders against Frostburg State and Fairmont State. Freshman catcher Honesty Holt ranks fifth nationally in batting average (.587), one of four Senators to boast an average over .300 with a minimum of two plate appearances per game.
 
Amy Fincham enters the weekend with a seven-game hitting streak, part of an aggressive Senator unit on the basepaths that has swiped 29 bags this season. Haley Grindstaff earned a pair of wins last week in the circle for the Senators, firing 20.0 innings this season. Ryn Boelter leads the team in wins (4), while Jenna Evans has a microscopic 0.36 ERA in seven appearances.
 
Frostburg State is led by experienced outfielder Claire Hanlon, who is hitting .400 for the Bobcats this season under second-year head coach Bill Vasco. Fairmont State plays 10 games in Florida before beginning conference play with a home doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan on March 14.

After concluding a three-game set against Savannah State, the D&E baseball team is home for the first time this season in a pair of conference doubleheaders against Fairmont State and Frostburg State. D&E (4-4) has come back down to earth a bit after a strong start to the season, dropping four of the past five games. Zachary Higgins has emerged as the team's leader in batting average (.350) in six games. Jordan Worley and Najay King have driven in seven runs each, while Brent McMillion is 2-1 on the mound in three starts.
 
Jacob Goodnight is batting .392 to pace Fairmont in 16 games this season and Ryan Roell has cracked a pair of home runs for Frostburg State.
