WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – West Liberty put one of the top offensive units on full display against a shorthanded Davis & Elkins team in a 100-73 loss on Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.
West Liberty (16-3, 11-2) used several big scoring runs to pull ahead and wear down Davis & Elkins (6-13, 4-9 MEC) in the Hilltoppers' tenth consecutive victory.
Erkam Kiris dropped in a game-high 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds despite battling some foul trouble and three other players notched double figures for the Senators.
Tyler Twyman notched a career-high 15 points, while
Emre Yildirim and
Elliot White posted 10 points each.
Will Yoakum had 21 points in a balanced West Liberty effort, with Pat Robinson adding 19 points off the bench. Dalton Bolon notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Preston Boswell finished with 16.
A tightly contested matchup early, West Liberty spouted off an 18-4 run to pull ahead 38-23 with 5:47 remaining in the opening half. The Hilltoppers took a 49-26 edge into the locker room and held serve in the second half, despite only outscoring D&E by four over the final 20 minutes.
Davis & Elkins returns to the court this Saturday, February 1 for a road contest against Wheeling at 4:00 PM.
