Women's Golf Opens 2019-20 Season with Evann Parker Memorial

Set for year number two as a program, the Davis & Elkins women's golf team begins a new season with the Evann Parker Memorial event, hosted by Mercyhurst. The two-day tournament takes place at Lake View Country Club, marking the first time the Senators women's golf team has competed in Pennsylvania. Second-year head coach JD Lamm brings back his entire roster from last season, led by sophomore
Kaitlin Dixon, while
Marie-Eve Goudreau and
Morgan Henrie make up the senior class for the 2019-20 season. D&E will compete in a practice round on September 5 before starting the season a day later.

Men's and Women's Cross Country Begins MEC Era at Bethany Invite

With big expectations for the 2019 cross country season, the Senator men and women will begin their year with the Bethany Invite on Saturday morning. Beginning with the women's race at 10:00 AM, the men will follow with race time set for 11:00 AM. A total of 26 teams will compete in the event, including a three regionally-ranked squads. Davis & Elkins competed in the Bethany Invite in 2017, with the men's and women's teams both earning second-place finishes. Individually,
Hayden Harrison finished as the runner up.

Seven out of 11 MEC schools will be competing, while two additional Atlantic Region teams (Cal U and IUP) will also be making the trip to West Virginia for the event. Featuring a young roster on both sides, the Senators have eight freshmen taking the course on the women's side and three first-year runners on the men's team. Juniors

Lavania Lemasters and
Skylee Watson return to anchor the women's team in 2019. Harrison, along with seniors
John Lowther,
David Magda and
R.J. Weiford provide veteran experience for the men.

Women's Golf Continues Early Erie Swing with Michael Corbett Fall Classic

The Senators close out their opening weekend in Erie with the Michael Corbett Fall Classic, hosted by Gannon, beginning September 8. The all-day event will take place at Lake Shore Country Club, where the Senators will get the chance to compete in their second event over a four-day span. D&E was picked in a tie for sixth with Concord in the MEC Preseason Poll.

Head coach
Declan McGill will officially begin his tenure with the Senators women's soccer program, coaching in his first regular season game since taking the reigns back in January. D&E welcomes a tough foe to begin 2019, squaring off with Caldwell, the defending CACC Champions from a season ago. The Senators finished 6-8-2 last season and were picked fourth in the MEC South Division. The contest begins a four-game homestand to begin the 2019 season at Nuttall Field. Bringing back 10 players from last season, the Senators will look for an uptick in the goal department after notching just 12 goals in 2018.
Asheli Freed (6G, 45 Shots in 2018) is one of the most potent offensive threats for D&E, while
Roxanne McFarlin impressed with her ability in the exhibition season. In goal, freshmen
Sierra Curtis and
Katie Clarke have split time in the preseason and will both be vying for the starting job.

For Caldwell, the Cougars were picked second in the CACC Preseason Poll and open the season with consecutive games in West Virginia. Head coach Nate Guagliardi returns for his 13
th season and surpassed the 100-win plateau two seasons ago. Bringing back four of their top six scorers from 2018, Caldwell was led by senior Meghan Grundhauser (14G, 4A, 32 Pts.).

Finishing up game two of a season-opening soccer doubleheader, the Davis & Elkins men's soccer team will be tested early on against No. 23 Notre Dame (Ohio). Opening conference play in the MEC right off the bat, Davis & Elkins boasts a wealth of depth and talent, including GMAC Honorable Mention
Markus Just.
Patrick Holley and
Victor Pires bring back a veteran presence along the defensive unit for the Senators, while
Everton Carvalho and
Richard Glemawu return in goal after splitting time last season.
Felipe Polycarpo will keep the Senators organized in the midfield along with
Matteo Ghezzi,
Sebastian Ongkowijaya and a host of young players. The challenge for second-year head coach
Matt Ellinger will be utilizing the talent and depth on his roster to battle back from a 2-7-1 mark that ended the 2018 season.

Notre Dame (Ohio) opens the 2019 season up against Gannon on September 5 before trekking south to West Virginia. Ranked 23
rd in the preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, it's the first time the Falcons have had a preseason ranking since 2016. Arthur Favero, the reigning MEC Player of the Year, returns for his senior season after notching 11 goals in 2018.
