Women's Golf Wraps Up Wally Edgell Tournament on Tuesday

Davis & Elkins plays its second and final round of the 2019 Wally Edgell Collegiate Championship on Tuesday at scenic Canaan Golf Club. The women, currently in sixth place through round one, will look to jump up the leaderboard in the final round. Dorothy Romanek sets in 15th with an 87 in the first round, while Kaitlin Dixon (89) is in a tie for 18th place. Ohio Valley holds the lead as a team with a 321 in the opening round.

Davis & Elkins will look to maintain its lead through one round of play into the final day of the 2019 Wally Edgell Collegiate Championship on Tuesday. Currently at +5 as a team, D&E is paced by Jordan Hyland, who is in a tie for third place with a -1 score. Hyland is one of seven players to fire a round under par at a windy Canaan course on Monday. Patrick Smith is also right in the mix for the Senators in a tie for 10th place with a +1.

Looking to continue its strong start to the home portion of the 2019 schedule, Davis & Elkins will welcome Salem (W. Va.) to The McDonnell Center for a Tuesday night clash. The Senators dispatched of Bloomsburg and Alderson Broaddus in the D&E Tri-Match last Friday and will look for its third consecutive victory on Tuesday. Kaitlyn LaCour continues to lead the Senators offensively with 130 kills and 3.71 kills/set. Lillie Mueller, Raleighanne Weaver, Luann O'Kane and Mya Mintschenko have all added 50 kills or more to the balanced Senator attack. Kelly Smith has notched 156 digs on the season and leads the team with 14 aces.

Women's Soccer Hits the Road for First Time Wednesday at Daemen

Davis & Elkins will look to rebound from a hard-fought 1-0 loss last time out at home to Concord. The Senators will play their first road game of 2019, heading to New York to face Daemen in a rare morning game. Asheli Freed has recorded three goals on 14 shots to lead the Senators offensively, also adding two assists for 14 points on the year. Katie Clarke has made 21 saves in goal, including 11 last time out against the Mountain Lions.
 
Davis & Elkins has assisted on five of its six goals in 2019. Damen will return home following a 1-1 tie with New York Tech last time out on September 21.

Davis & Elkins hits the road following an impressive second half effort that led to a 3-1 win over Salem (W. Va.) on Saturday night at Nuttall Field. The Senators will hop back into conference play with a road matchup against the other new member of the Mountain East Conference, the Frostburg State Bobcats. Jens Ovreseth was impressive for Davis & Elkins last time out with a goal and assist as part of a big week for the freshman. Matteo Ghezzi and Luca Compagnucci also found the back of the net for the Senators in the victory on Saturday. Though early, Wednesday is an important game for the Senators, who are just one conference win away from moving into third in the MEC standings.
 
Games involving Davis & Elkins have been physical to this point of the season, with the Senators picking up nine yellow cards and one red card in four games. Everton Carvalho has made 13 saves in goal for Davis & Elkins, playing in every contest so far this season. Frostburg is fresh off a 3-0 shutout victory over Wheeling last Saturday, receiving goals from Addison Keja, Jose Rodriguez and Camilo Ortiz.

Men's Tennis Begins Fall Schedule with ITA Regionals

Men's tennis will open their 2019-2020 season at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan, held at the Schoenbaum Family Tennis Courts in Charleston, W. Va. The Senators will place at least two singles players in the A Singles Draw, as well as one doubles team in the A Doubles draw. The remaining players will await an at-large bid or compete in the B Flight. Matches will begin on Saturday morning and continue through the finals on Monday.

Cross Country Looks for Repeat Effort at Route 33 Cup Classic

After another strong performance at the Lock Haven Invite last Saturday, the regionally-ranked Davis & Elkins men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the Route 33 Cup Classic. The event, hosted by Glenville State this year, begins at 5:00 PM. D&E earned a second-place finish out of 37 teams on the women's side while the men snagged fourth-place out of 32 teams. Matthew Chapman (25:41.3) was the top finisher for the men last Saturday while Svea Timm (21:25.5) paced the women. The Senators men's and women's teams each won thee three-team event in Elkins last season.

Volleyball Finishes Week at Home Against West Virginia State, Charleston to Start MEC Play

After trekking through a tough non-conference schedule, Davis & Elkins continues its homestand and begins Mountain East Conference play against West Virginia State on Friday and Charleston on Saturday.  D&E is 1-2 against West Virginia State sand 1-6 against Charleston since 2010. The Senators will look to reverse that trend this weekend and will rely on its senior group to do so. Mueller, Minthscehnko and Weaver have all been forces at the net this season and will need to continue to be strong in the blocking aspect of the game as the senators hop into conference play.

Men's Golf Hosts Snowshoe Invitational in Final Tune-up for MEC Championships

Davis & Elkins will host its second consecutive tournament in the fall season, competing in the Snowshoe Invitational beginning Sunday. The two-round event concluded on Monday and is the final competition prior to the MEC Championships on October 7-9.

After opening the year with four consecutive home matchups, the Davis & Elkins Senators will play a second-straight road contest on Sunday against Glenville State. Samantha Cozzolino and Chelsi Jadoo have provided a veteran presence along the backline, helping Clarke to a 1.24 GAA. Aside from the Concord game, Davis & Elkins has also outshot their opponents this season. Glenville hosts Charleston on Wednesday before welcoming the Senators to Sue Morris Stadium on Sunday.
