The Davis & Elkins College Senators Softball team closed out their season with Saturday's doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan, and two games Sunday against Trevecca Nazarene.
The Senators celebrated the senior class of
Jade Allee,
Kaitlyn Giffin,
Alyssa Cairns,
Sara Tobin,
Alexis Smith,
Katelyn Cobb, and
Katie Manson on Saturday between the two games.
Alyssa Cairns continued her strong performance at the plate against the Panthers in Game 1. Cairns hit a first inning home run, and added an RBI triple, but the Panthers offense took control to win 8-4.
In the second game, the Panthers took an early lead in a 5-2 victory.
Brittany Wade had two hits and an RBI single, and
Alyssa Cairns added an RBI double, her 42nd RBI of the season.
Katie Manson scored a run as well.
Ryn Boelter went 2 for 3 in the first game, and
Katelyn Cobb threw scoreless relief innings in both games.
Against Trevecca, the Senators scored a seventh inning run for an 8-7 victory.
The Trojans put up four runs in the first inning, but
Kelsie Millner plated
Jordan Crawford to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Senators tied the game at 5 in the second inning, when
Katie Manson hit a two-run triple to score
Jade Allee and
Payton Maddy.
Jordan Crawford scored Manson with a base hit, and
Brittany Wade scored Crawford on the next play to tie the game at 5.
Amy Fincham plated
Ryn Boelter for a 6-5 lead in the third inning, and the runs would continue to exchange until
Kailynn Parks scored the winning run on a wild pitch for an 8-7 victory.
In Game 2, Trevecca scored four runs in the seventh to win 10-8.
Rhetta Persinger had a big game at the plate, going 2 for 4 with four RBIs.
Amy Fincham hit a two-run double, and
Alyssa Cairns added an RBI double of her own.
