Ohio Dominican Takes Two Close Games from Senators

ELKINS -

The Senators Softball team came up just short in both games against visiting Ohio Dominican on Saturday, by scores of 6-5 (Game 1) and 6-4 (Game 2).

Jade Allee pitched a complete game in Game 1, striking out three in seven innings pitched. Allee was also 2-4 at the plate.

The Senators scored two runs in the first, when Ryn Boelter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Amy Fincham followed up with an RBI single.

Brittany Wade went 2-4, scoring in the first inning, and driving in Jordan Crawford in the second inning.

The Senators would tie the game at 5 through three innings, as Kailynn Parks would drive in Jade Allee, and score on Katie Manson's RBI single.

ODU would score on a sacrifice fly for a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning, a lead that held for a final score. Rhetta Persinger went 2-4 during Game 1.

The Senators struck first in game two, when Rhetta Persinger plated Alyssa Cairns for a 1-0 lead.

Kailynn Parks cut the deficit to 3-2, scoring Morgan Tandarich with an RBI double in the fourth inning.

The Panthers scored five runs off starter Haley Grindstaff, and the Senators came to the 7th inning trailing 6-2.

Alyssa Cairns hit her fifth home run of the year to start a late rally, scoring Sydney Carter, but the Panthers closed out Game 2 by a score of 6-4.

The Senators will make up last weekend's games tomorrow and Tuesday in Ohio, playing Ursuline in a Monday doubleheader, and Lake Erie on Tuesday.
