Second Half Rally Not Enough for D&E in Late Loss to Frostburg

ELKINS, W. Va. — Trailing by as many as 16 in the second half, a Davis & Elkins comeback effort came up short as Jaylon Johnson converted two of three foul shots with less than one second remaining in regulation to break a scoreless tie, allowing the visiting Bobcats to escape with a 76-74 conference victory over Davis & Elkins on Tuesday night.

The Senators surged back over the final five minutes of regulation, slicing into the deficit before tying the game at 71 with 1:07 left in the contest. Donte Doleman buried a layup off a Teemu Tumanoff feed with just 14 seconds left, but the Bobcats eventually netted the daggers at the foul line.

Doleman and Erkam Kiris each poured in a team-high 20 points for Davis & Elkins, which converted just three shots from beyond the arc on the evening. Meanwhile, Daniel Alexander netted 33 points in 38 minutes for Frostburg State, all while playing with four fouls for much of the final moments of the second half. Myles Monroe recorded a double-double behind 14 points and 11 rebounds and Terrance Lakes chipped in eight points off the bench.
