KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team closed out it season Saturday afternoon falling to Lincoln Memorial 24-4 at Knoxville Catholic High School.
The Senators were unable to pace the Railsplitters early, as the hosts jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first 22 minutes, including an 8-0 first quarter.
Matthew Dyck picked up the Senators first goal of the contest, scoring off an assist from
Haydn Sitler.
Three minutes later, and after a goal from Lincoln Memorial, Dyck scored again on an unassisted effort for the Senators final goal of the first half.
Lincoln Memorial would score four more in the first half to take a 14-2 lead into the break.
After a pair of goals form the Railplitters to start the second half,
Kyle Durec scored on a play assisted by
Aidan O'Dwyer.
LMU would add five more goals to close out the third quarter.
Aidan O'Dwyer would start the scoring in the fourth off of an assist from his brother
Matt O'Dwyer.
The Senators were out-shot 53-21 in the game, and Davis & Elkins committed 17 turnovers to 13 from Lincoln Memorial.
Lincoln Memorial also led the Senators in ground balls, finishing with 41 to just 27 from D&E.
With the loss, the Senators season comes to a close as D&E fails to qualify for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
