XENIA, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins Softball season came to a close on Sunday as the Senators fell to Kentucky Wesleyan 7-0 in the G-MAC Championship game.
Kentucky Wesleyan, who went through the tournament undefeated, scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.
The Senators struggled to string hits together, scattering four hits in the contest.
Allie Lapallo, who pitched the Senators to the Championship on Saturday with a pair of shutouts, struggled early, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout in 2.1 innings pitched.
Victoria Krystynak pitched the final 4.1 innings, allowing one run on eight hits with one strikeout.
The Senators got a baserunner to third in the second and fourth innings, but were unable to get a run home.
Kentucky Wesleyan would add four runs in the third inning and then a run in the fourth to close the scoring.
Davis & Elkins finish the season 24-21, earning the No. 4 seed in the G-MAC tournament. However, the Senators advanced to the G-MAC Championship for the first time in the four-year history of the conference.
