Senators Close Out Regular Season With Win Over AB

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team held on for a 15-14 victory over rival Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday night to earn the program's second straight win and close the regular season.
 
After giving up the first goal of the game, the Senators responded with five of the next six goals to take a 5-2 lead after 15 minutes. Matt O'Dwyer started the scoring for the Senators and then broke a 2-2 tie to give the Senators a lead.
 
Zach Cotoni, Ian Nelson and Matthew Dyck also scored in the first quarter.
 
Alderson Broaddus started the second quarter with three straight goals to tie the game at five. O'Dwyer would then score to break the tie again, as the Senators reeled off the next seven goals, including six in the second quarter to take an 11-5 lead into the halftime break.
 
Kyle Durec would score on the man-advantage to put the Senators up by two. Jordan Waddell would then score the first of his two in the second quarter, followed by goals from Jay Baumgardner and Zach Cotoni, before Waddell would close out the scoring in the half.
 
Durec would start the scoring in the third quarter before Alderson Broaddus would score three straight and four of the next five.
 
Mike Tokar would score in the middle of the visitors' run in the middle of the third.
 
Senior Patrick Schneck would then score and O'Dwyer closed out the third to give the Senators a 15- 9 lead heading to the fourth.
 
Alderson Broaddus would score all five goals in the fourth quarter, but the Senators would hold on to secure the program's first win over the young rivals.
 
D&E awaits the remainder of the seasons results to learn its fate for the postseason. The Senators still hold a chance at qualifying for the inaugural G-MAC Tournament with other results falling their way.
