D&E Splits With Ohio Valley On Senior Day

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Softball team split with Ohio Valley on Saturday in the opening doubleheader of a four-game series. The Senators won 4-0 before falling 3-0 in the second game.

In game one, Allie Lapallo was dominant, allowing just three hits while striking out four on her way to a complete game shutout.

The Senators took the lead in the first, as Brittany Wade's RBI groundout to the right side allowed Cairns to score from third.

Rhetta Persinger then batted home Danielle Norton with a single to left, giving the Senators a 2-0 lead after one inning.

The Senators added two more runs in the fourth inning on a pair of doubles to left field. Kelsie Millner batted home Cairns for the first run and then scored on Norton's double.

In game two, the Senators were unable to get the bats going, limited to just four hits.

Victoria Krystynak held Ohio Valley scoreless into the fifth inning before an error allowed an unearned run to score for the visitors.

Ohio Valley added another run in the sixth inning on Krystynak and then added an insurance run in the seventh on Sara Tobin.

Wade had two of the four hits for the Senators in the game and Cairns went 1-2 with a walk.
