ELKINS – The Senators Men's Lacrosse team fell to No. 4 ranked Mercyhurst University 20-3 Sunday afternoon at Nuttall Field to open G-MAC play.
After the top-ranked visitors jumped out to a 2-0 lead, the Senators answered with two goals in 1:41.
Matthew Dyck started the scoring for D&E off an assist from
Connor Shantz to cut the deficit to one.
Patrick Schneck then had an unassisted play, working from behind the net to score on the wing, tying the game at 2-2.
However, the Lakers would respond by going on an 18-0 run through the midway point of the fourth quarter to pull away from the Senators.
Kyle Durec would add one back for D&E late, taking a pass from
Zach Cotoni and scoring on his only shot of the game.
Cotoni led the team with seven ground balls in the game.
Quinn Beavis led the team with two caused turnovers and had three ground balls.
Davis & Elkins will be back in action next Saturday, playing on the road for the first time this season at Chowan. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m. in Murfreesboro, N.C.
