ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to No. 22 University of Findlay 83-55 on Saturday in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Davis & Elkins came out struggling in the first half as the Senators were held to just 24 percent shooting by the Oilers, who were 42 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. The Senators trailed the Oilers 33-19 headed into the break.
The Senators came out of the halftime break with a 7-2 run, led by a pair of baskets from
Edmund Parker and a three pointer from
Donte Doleman.
However, Findlay would answer back with a 13-2 run of their own to pull ahead by 20 points at 48-28. The Oilers would grow their lead to as much as 41 before the Senators would add a late surge.
The Senators' 55 points was a season low offensive output.
Kevin Simpson and
Edmund Parker finished in double figures for the Senators. Simpson led the way with 19 points, while also collecting three rebounds and two steals.
Parker finished with 13 points. He shared for the team high in rebounds with
Trevor English. The duo collected eight boards each.
Jordan McElveen and Doleman each had two assists, tied with Simpson for the team high.
The Senators will return to action when they ring in the New Year with a non-conference contest against West Virginia Tech. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. at the McDonnel Center on Monday, January 1.
