CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team clinched the No. 1 seed in the G-MAC Tournament with its 5-4 win over Cedarville University Saturday afternoon.
The Senators jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action. Halima Michael and Kelsie Roby led the way in doubles action, winning 8-3. Elise Simon and Marlene Ridgway also picked up a victory in doubles action, winning a tightly contested battle 9-7.
In singles action, Michael, Amanda Fewster, and Roby picked up victories to help the Senators to a narrow victory over the Yellow Jackets. Michael swept through number two singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
In number three singles, Fewster also had a comfortable win, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Roby won in number four singles, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1.
The Senators finished the regular season with a 7-0 record in G-MAC play, clinching the No. 1 seed over Cedarville, who finished the season at 6-1.
The G-MAC Tournament will be held April 29-30 at Cedarville University.
