How It Happened:

• The Davis & Elkins College basketball team dropped to an 88-73 loss against Shawnee State University at The McDonnell Center on Tuesday, February 23.
• Both teams enjoyed a hot start from beyond the arc, however it was Shawnee State who took advantage of the first half play to lead 44-39 at the break.
• The Senators started the second half with a 5-2 scoring run to close the gap to 2 points but an 8-0 rally helped the Bears quickly rebuild their advantage.
• Shawnee State would not let up pressure and pulled away to the 88-78 win, despite D&E's best efforts.
• The Bears shot 57.6% (34-59) from the field, 60% (9-15) from three-point range, and 73.3% (11-15) from the line. The Senators shot 43.1% (28-65) from the field, 37% (10-27) from beyond the arc and 53.8% (7-13) from the line. Shawnee State outrebounded D&E 39-27. 
• Teron Owens led the Senators on offense with 20 points. Edmund Parker added 18 points, 14 of which came in the second half, and 4 rebounds, while Rickenjee Bellevue posted 11 points and 5 rebounds. Aleksandar Vasiljevic led D&E with 7 rebounds on the night.
