How It Happened:
- The Davis & Elkins College men's basketball team powered to an 85-78 win over conference rivals Alderson Broaddus University on Saturday, February 13.
- A pair of three point baskets to open scoring for the Senators would be a sign of things to come as D&E got off to an early lead. Kevin Bracy-Davis and Wesley Sprinkle would combine to score 18 points from beyond the arc in the first half alone.
- An alley-oop slam-dunk by Rickenjee Bellevue proved an emphatic statement from the Senators to mark the close of the first half.
- D&E continued to control the game and led by as much as 21 early in the second half. However, AB fought back to close the gap to only 6 points with three minutes left in the game. Solid shooting at the free throw line (23 for 25 on the night) and a stern defense would allow D&E to ease to the 85-78 win in the end.
- Bracy-Davis led the Senators with a game-high 29 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. Kevin Simpson finished with 17 points, 3 assists and a steal while Sprinkle added in 11 points and 2 assists.
- The Senators proved hot from outside shooting 52.2% (12 for 23) on the night compared to only 35.7% (5 for 14) from the Battlers.
- The victory would mark the first home win for D&E over Alderson Broaddus since January 2010.
