How It Happened:

• Bluefield State College snatched a dramatic win from Davis & Elkins College on Tuesday, January 5. Avery Holliday made the game-winning basket for the Blues with two seconds left on the clock to push BSC to a 75-74 win over D&E.
• The Senators opened up the game by controlling the first half. Shooting 36.4% from beyond the arc, the team led by three points at the break.
• D&E continued where they left off and extended their lead to as many as 7 points in the second half but were unable to shake off a determined BSC team. Bluefield went on a 10-4 scoring run during the last three minutes of the game to close the gap to just one point with eleven seconds to play.
• A turnover by D&E allowed Holliday time and space to knock down the game-winning basket. Bluefield's lead came for only the second time in the game with two seconds left to play.
• The Senators were without the services of key players Kevin Simpson and Kevin Bracy-Davis on the night.
• Edmund Parker posted a game high 27 points, Wesley Sprinkle added in 18 and Aleksandar Vasiljevic finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
• Joshua Windham led scoring for Bluefield with 17 points and 6 rebounds.

"Very proud of our effort especially under the circumstances we were in with injuries and sicknesses but we still have to learn to not squander early possessions and eliminate unforced turnovers that affect the game's outcome. We can't expect to continually slip through the cracks and get lucky. We have to take initiative and tighten up if we plan to achieve the team goal we have set.
