How It Happened: 

• Davis & Elkins dropped to a 10-3 loss in the season opener against Erskine College on Friday, January 29.
• The Flying Fleet opened scoring with a home run in bottom of the second inning and quickly followed with four more runs to build an early lead. Erskine continued to pull away and lead 7-0 at the end of the fifth.
• The Senators fired back with single runs from Tyler Honeycutt, Lance VanNoy and Travis Phelps in the sixth but could not close the gap further. Erskine would add five more runs to cap the 10-3 win.
• Pitcher Zach Bradfield (0-1) gave up nine hit and seven runs but claimed two strikeouts in five innings played. VanNoy picked up two RBIs with William Kendrick notching the other.
