How It Happened:

• Davis & Elkins College suffered a heartbreaking 88-82 loss in overtime against Trevecca Nazarene University. A late fourth quarter fight back by the Senators set up an exciting finish in The McDonnell Center on Thursday, January 14.
• The Senators started the game strongly and lead early but the Torjans soon rallied to take a slender one-point lead at the half. Trevecca came out in the second half with a point to prove and soon pushed their lead to as high as 13 points with 8 minutes left in the game.
• Two key plays from Teron Owens ignited an inspired comeback from the hosts. Owens earned an extra point after being fouled scoring a basket and followed with a spectacular three-point basket from well beyond the arc. The Senators, led by Kevin Simpson, piled on pressure to erode the gap twice but trailed with only 17 seconds left on the clock.
• The McDonnell Center crowd, on their feet for the last five minutes of the game was soon sent in to rapture. Wesley Sprinkle knocked down a three from range before Aleksandar Vasiljevic scored a put back basket to require overtime.
• However, despite the home crowds best efforts, their team couldn't find a way past TNU and fell to an 88-82 loss.
• Simpson led the Senators with 23 points; Jordan McElveen posted 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists while Vasiljevic finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Rickenjee Bellevue recorded a game high 14 rebounds.
