How It Happened: 

• Davis & Elkins College put on a strong defensive display en route to a 99-61 win over Salem International University on Tuesday, January 12. The Senators capitalized on a dominant first half performance in The McDonnell Center to ease past the Tigers.
• D&E opened scoring with intent through a pair of three point baskets from Wesley Sprinkle, who posted 22 points and 5 assists to led the team on offense. Kevin Simpson finished with 19 points and 7 assists while Teron Owens added 19 points on the night.
• Rickenjee Bellevue posted 16 rebounds and 6 blocks to lead the charge on defense for D&E, with Aleksandar Vasiljevic recording 11 points and 9 rebounds to keep the Tigers at bay.
• The Senators dominated the first half, opening with a blistering 24-2 scoring run including several three-point baskets from Sprinkle and Owens. Adding an 18-2 run, sparked by an Owens jump shot, the hosts had established a commanding 33-point margin at the break.
• A confident second half effort further extended the lead for D&E as they coasted to a 99-61 win over SIU.
• The Senators shot 51.6% from beyond the arc on the night, making 16 out of 31 attempts, and limited the Tigers to only 22.2%.
