- The Short Story: Adelphi won the first set 25-15, D&E came back strong to take the second set 28-26 but fell in the third set 25-18. The Senators fought back to win the 4th 25-22 and force a final set. The Panthers came out on top wining the 5th and deciding set 15-9, taking the match.
How it Happened
- The Panthers jumped out to an early 10-3 lead on the Senators in the first set and were able to secure an eventual win.
- The second set, remained tight throughout but two separate three point runs late were the difference as the Senators fought from behind to pick up the set. Kills from Devin Saucey and Kendall Jacobson were vital in the 28-26 victory. D&E's Haley Murray picked up 12 assists and had 38 in the match.
- The third set looked to be a tight battle early, but Adelphi scored 6 points on service aces that proved to be the difference.
- A strong fourth set from Elizabeth Estes, who had five kills in the set and 17 in the match propelled the Senators to force a final and deciding game.
- In the fifth set, Blakely Murphy put the final touches on a 15-9 Aldephi win on a kill from Megan Manierski. The two teams played to an early 4-4 tie. However, back-to-back attacking errors from Davis & Elkins allowed the Panthers to jump out in front for good.
- Adelphi's Shelby Stoner led both teams in the match with 18 kills; Megan Manierski added 54 assists for the Panthers.
