ELKINS, WV – Fairmont State University tops D&E in non-conference match.

The Basics

• Score: 3-0, (25-21, 25-18, 25-19)
• Records: D&E (1-9), FSU (7-5)
• Location: McDonnell Center, Elkins, WV
• The Short Story:  The Falcons took the first set 25-21 and went on to win the match 3-0, defeating the Senators 25-23 in the second set and then 25-19 in the final set.

How it Happened

• The Falcons jumped out to an early 8-0 on the Senators in the first set. D&E fought back, evening the score at 13-13 on kills by Devin Saucy and Kayla Godwin. However, the Falcons were able to recapture the lead and held on for the win in set one.
• Fairmont State set the pace early on back-to-back Erin Harwood kills and didn't look back, taking advantage of Senator attack errors. Charisse Mitchell led D&E with 3 kills in the set and had 7 kills and 5 digs in the match.
• In the final set, attack errors again plagued the Senators.  The Falcons capitalized behind the solid offense of Kaitlyn Witsaman who had 5 kills in set and 8 in the match.  Fairmont State's Kayla Smith led all players with 10 kills and 13 digs.
