Box Score 2 XENIA, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins softball team was ousted from the G-MAC Tournament after falling in a pair of extra inning contests on Friday. D&E fell to Trevecca by a score of 2-1 in nine innings before being dealt a 3-2 setback in 10 innings against Cedarville.
Against TNU, Katelyn Norton singled home Ashley Dove in the top of the first, putting D&E on top, 1-0. TNU's Danielle Tyson drove home a run with a single in the third to tie the game at 1-1. Trevecca's Shelby Andrews singled home the game-winning run in the ninth to give the Trojans a 2-1 victory.
Alexandra Lapallo tossed 8.1 innings, yielding two runs on nine hits and striking out three.
Against Cedarville, D&E capitalized on a CU error in the fifth to break a scoreless deadlock and put Davis & Elkins in front, 1-0. The Yellow Jackets tallied back-to-back doubles in the sixth to knot the game at 1-1. Lapallo singled home Dove in the eighth to retake the lead, 2-1. Cedarville's Jessica Palm tied the game at 2-2 with a single in the bottom of the frame. The tenth inning brought on international tiebreaker rules, and CU's Elyssa Reyes plated the game-winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the frame to take the 3-2 win.
Lapallo hurled 9.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on 12 hits and struck out one.
Cedarville advances to play Trevecca in Saturday's Championship Game.
Davis & Elkins finished the 2015 campaign with a record of 21-23. Friday's losses bring to an end the careers of Autumn Appleby, Kaitlyn Daugherty and Ashley Dove in the red and white.
