Box Score 2 ATHENS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins fell in a pair of non-conference contests at Concord on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions took game one, 9-3 and followed it with a 10-1 win in game two.
Bryant Hines put D&E on top 1-0 with a RBI single in the third inning. Zak Keesee singled home a run in the fourth, extending the lead to 2-0. CU plated four runs in the bottom of the inning and five in the fifth inning to pull ahead, 9-2. Keesee drove in the final run of game one with a RBI single in the sixth, setting the 9-3 margin.
Brandon Hamons (0-1) allowed five runs on eight hits with a pair of strikeouts and three walks in four innings. Heath Broughton tossed two innings, giving up four runs on six hits, walking one.
In game two, Concord scored a pair of runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. William Kendrick trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with a single in the second. The Mountain Lions responded with seven runs in the second and one in the third before the game was called due to rain with the 10-1 final.
Forrest Williamson (0-1) surrendered seven runs on six hits with three walks in 1.1 innings on the mound. Isaac Riggleman hurled 2.2 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Davis & Elkins hosts Cedarville on Friday at 12 p.m.
