Box Score 2 GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins and Glenville State split a doubleheader on Monday afternoon. D&E capitalized on seven GSC errors for a 9-6 win in game one, and the Pioneers claimed a 4-3 decision in game two.
Taylor Norton drove home the first run of the day on an error. Katelyn Norton singled home a run later in the inning and Kaitlyn Huffman tripled home a pair, giving D&E a 4-0 lead after one inning. The Pioneers scored a run in the bottom of the second, making the score, 4-1. A GSC error in the third pushed the lead back to four, at 5-1 in the third inning. Kayla Dianna scored on a wild pitch in the fourth. Taylor Norton add a RBI single and Alexandra Lapallo drove home two with a single, pushing the score to 9-1. Glenville State battled back with four runs in the bottom of the inning and plated one in the fifth, but D&E was able to close the door on the 9-6 win.
Lapallo (8-5) worked 4.2 innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits. Victoria Krystynak earned the save, giving up three hits over a scoreless 2.2 innings.
In game two, the Pioneers scratched out a pair of runs in the second inning. Sydney Turner tied the game with a two-run blast in the third inning. Glenville State moved back in front with a two-run homer in the fifth. Kayla Whoolery singled home a run in the sixth, but a bases-loaded double play allowed the Pioneers to take the 4-3 victory.
Autumn Appleby (1-4) worked the complete game, surrendering four runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking three.
