Box Score 2 PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins baseball team dropped its final two road games of the season on Saturday at Ohio Valley. The Scots took game one by a score of 13-1, and finished the weekend sweep with a 7-2 win.
OVU scored one run in the first, three in the second, two in the fourth and six in the fifth to open up a 12-0 advantage. Bryant Hines plated D&E's first run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Ohio Valley tacked on one run in the bottom of the inning to set the 13-1 final.
Tyler Honeycutt (1-7) surrendered nine runs (four earned) on nine hits, walked three and struck out one in 4.1 innings on the mound. Jake Williams allowed three runs on three hits and walked a pair in one-third of an inning. Owen Arbogast worked two-thirds of an inning, yielding one run on one hit and walking two. Isaac Riggleman struck out one in two-thirds of an inning on the bump.
In game two, OVU plated a run in the third and three in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Tyler Honeycutt drove in a run with a single in the fifth, making the score 4-1. The Scots added one in the sixth to push the lead back to four at 5-1. Zak Keesee singled home a run in the eighth. OVU tallied two runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the 7-2 win.
Austin Main (0-6) relinquished five runs (four earned) on 11 hits, struck out one and walked two in 5.1 innings of work. Tyler Mason tossed 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit, walking one and striking out one. Riggleman gave up two runs on three hits in an inning of work.
D&E wraps up the 2015 campaign with a six-game homestand, beginning on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Salem International at 12 p.m.
