D&E Rally Falls Short at G-MAC Championship

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins women's tennis team was unable to knock off top-seeded Cedarville in Saturday's G-MAC Championship. The Yellow Jackets claimed the 2015 conference title by a 5-3 decision.  

Davis & Elkins took an early 1-0 lead, as the #3 doubles pairing of Rhiana Bruce-Lyle and Marlenne Ridgway claimed an 8-4 victory. Cedarville evened the match with a win at the #2 doubles and rallied from a 7-4 deficit to knock off D&E's #1 doubles tandem, 9-7.

CU extended its advantage to 3-1 with a win at the #4 singles. G-MAC Player of the Year, Julia Hoehn, earned a straight set (6-0, 6-4) win at the #1 singles to pull D&E within one at 3-2. The Yellow Jackets won the #6 singles to move within a point of claiming the match. All-league honoree, Halima Michael, was victorious at the #2 singles by scores of 6-3 and 7-5. Sandra Chindalo and Bruce-Lyle each dropped their respective first sets, but were able to win the second set and force third set tiebreakers. Chindalo fell in her tiebreaker, 6-2, allowing Cedarville to claim the 5-3 win.

D&E finishes the 2014-15 campaign with a record of 12-10.
