Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins took both ends of a Wednesday evening doubleheader against rival Alderson Broaddus. D&E walked off a 4-2 winner in game one, and coasted to an 8-0 victory in a five inning nightcap.
In game one, the Battlers scored first on a RBI double from Kylie Gasper. D&E promptly tied the game at 1-1 with a RBI single from Alexandra Lapallo in the bottom of the first. Alderson Broaddus scratched out a run on a groundout in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. Lapallo knotted the game at 2-2 with a solo shot to center in the sixth. Kayla Whoolery provided the walk-off fireworks with a two-out two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Lapallo (11-5) tossed the complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out six.
In game two, Lapallo and Katelyn Norton each singled home a run in the first, putting D&E on top, 1-0. Whoolery and Lapallo added RBI singles in second, extending the lead to 4-0. Whoolery collected her second RBI of the game with a single in the third and scored on a two-run double off the bat of Sydney Turner. Ashley Dove set the mercy rule into effect with a solo bomb to center in the fourth.
Victoria Krystynak hurled the complete game shutout, giving up five hits and striking out one.
D&E welcomes conference-leader, Trevecca, for a four-game set beginning on Friday at 2 p.m.
