ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins picked up a pair over victories over Salem International on Sunday afternoon. The Senators coasted to a 9-0 win in five innings in game one, and followed it up with a 5-1 triumph in the nightcap.

Alexandra Lapallo belted a solo home run to right field in the second inning to put D&E on top, 1-0. Kayla Whoolery, Taylor Norton and Ashley Dove each recorded RBI singles, while Lapallo added a sacrifice fly, making the score 5-0 after three innings. Whoolery singled home a run in the fourth, Taylor Norton tripled home a pair and Lapallo doubled home one to set the 9-0 margin.

Lapallo (9-5) hurled a one hit shutout with four strikeouts.

In game two, Sydney Turner doubled home a run in the third, and later scored on a two-run double by Lapallo to put the Senators on top, 3-0. A D&E error allowed the Tigers to score one run in the fourth, making the score 3-1. Taylor Norton delivered a solo blast in the fifth and Kaitlyn Huffman added a RBI single, propelling D&E to the 5-1 win.

Victoria Krystynak (4-2) worked the complete game, giving up one unearned run on three hits, while striking out six and walking one.

Davis & Elkins travels to Philippi on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to take on Alderson Broaddus.
