Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – Cedarville dealt Davis & Elkins a pair of setbacks on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets outlasted the Senators 3-2 in a 10-inning first game and scored eight runs in the seventh to finish the sweep with a 9-0 victory.
Cedarville grabbed a 1-0 lead with a Sam Summerlin RBI single in the first inning. Tyler Mason singled home a run to tie the game in the bottom of the frame. Summerlin made the score 2-1 with a RBI single in the fifth. Ryan Dodson knotted the game at 2-2 with a RBI in the bottom of the sixth. Cedarville's Harrison Martin broke the 2-2 stalemate with a RBI single in the tenth, propelling CU to the 3-2 win.
Noah Jarboe (0-4) hurled the full 10 innings, yielding three runs (two earned) on 11 hits, while striking out five and walking one.
In game two, Cedarville's Colton Potter doubled home a run in the fifth to break a scoreless deadlock. A pair of D&E errors allowed the Yellow Jackets to break the game open with eight runs in the seventh, setting the 9-0 margin.
Austin Main (0-4) tossed six innings, giving up seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits and struck out four. Heath Broughton allowed two runs on three hits, walked one and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning. Jake Williams recorded the final out of the afternoon.
D&E and CU conclude their weekend set with a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m.
