NEWBERRY, S.C. -- Newberry plated six runs in the eighth inning to break open a pitcher's duel and claim a 7-0 decision over Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon.

The Wolves broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run. Newberry added to their lead in the eighth with a three-run homer, a two-run double and a RBI single to finish off the 7-0 victory. 

Tyler Honeycutt (0-2) worked seven strong innings, giving up one run on three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Marcus Warner surrendered four runs on two hits with a pair of walks. Heath Broughton tossed one inning, yielding two runs on three hits and striking out two.
