NEWBEERY, S.C. – Seven Wolves crossed the plate in the first inning to propel Newberry to a 13-1 win over Davis & Elkins on Friday.

Bryant Hines drove home the game's first run with a single in the opening frame. The Wolves pounded out nine hits in the bottom of the inning to plate seven runs and seize control early. Newberry tacked on one in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh to set the 13-1 margin.

Jake Smith (0-1) surrendered seven runs on nine hits, while walking a pair and striking out one in a single inning on the hill. Christian Scott tossed four innings, giving up four runs on three hits with four walks and one strikeout. Forrest Williamson yielded two runs on three hits, walking a pair and striking out one in two innings of work. Tyler Mason hurled a scoreless inning, allowing one hit.

The Senators take on Newberry on Saturday at 1 p.m.
