Box Score 2 VIENNA, W.Va. -- The Davis & Elkins softball team moved to 5-0 in conference play with a sweep of Ohio Valley on Friday. The Senators posted a 5-0 win in game one and won game two, 3-2.
Taylor Norton blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to put D&E on top, 3-0. Kaitlyn Huffman added a two-run bomb in the sixth to set the 5-0 margin.
Alexandra Lapallo (6-3) tossed the the complete game shutout, yielding three hits while walking one and striking out three.
The Fighting Scots' Kyle Doelling lined a RBI double in the top of the first, putting OVU in front, 1-0. Lapallo propelled D&E to a 2-1 lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the inning. OVU's Leigh Murphy tied the game at 2-2 with a double in the fourth inning. Lapallo broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot to power D&E to the 3-2 win.
Autumn Appleby gave up one run on two hits and walked a pair in one inning of work. Victoria Krystynak (2-1) went five innings, allowing one run on five hits with one strikeout and one walk. Taylor Norton earned the save, surrendering one run on one hit.
Davis & Elkins and Ohio Valley return to Elkins on Sunday to wrap-up their four-game set. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
