Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. -- Alderson Broaddus completed a four-game sweep of Davis & Elkins on Monday. The Battlers took game one, 11-2, and followed it up with a 12-3 win in game two.
AB capitalized on a Senator error in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Ryan Dodson tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning. The Battlers plated four runs in both the second and third innings to grab a 9-1 advantage. AB added solo runs in the fourth and fifth, extending their lead to 11-1. Kevin McDermott singled home a run in the sixth, setting the 11-2 margin.
Jake Smith (0-2) surrendered 10 runs (six earned) on 10 hits, walking two and striking out two in four innings. Tyler Mason worked three innings, yielding one unearned run on four hits with one walk.
In game two, Dodson doubled home a run in the bottom of the first and scored on a Bryant Hines single. Daniel Esian trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with a RBI single in the fourth inning. The Battlers plated four runs in the fifth to go on top, 5-2. AB added a pair of runs in both the sixth and seventh, pushing the lead to 9-2. Alderson Broaddus scored one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth, making the score 12-2. Travis Phelps stole home for the final run of the day to establish the 12-3 final.
Christian Scott hurled 4.2 innings, giving up five runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Isaac Riggleman and Silas Gibson each allowed two runs in one inning on the mound. Owen Arbogast relinquished one run on one hit in one inning. Mason surrendered two runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning. Jake Williams pitched a perfect two-thirds of an inning.
