Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins opened conference play with a sweep of Ursuline on Sunday. The Senators rallied for a 6-2 win in game one, and came away with a 10-6 victory in game two.
Ursuline's Bridgette Snow launched a two-run homer in the fifth, putting the Arrows on top 2-0. Taylor Norton tied the game with a two-run triple in the sixth, and scored on a two-run bomb from Alexandra Lapallo pushing D&E to a 4-2 lead. Kaitlyn Daugherty added a bases-loaded walk and Kaitlyn Huffman scored on a wild pitch to set the 6-2 margin.
Lapallo (4-3) hurled the complete game, giving up two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
In game two, Taylor Norton doubled home a run in the first inning. Ursuline's Carly Hoffner plated a pair with a single in the third, putting UC on top 2-1. Lapallo knotted the game at 2-2 with a RBI double in the bottom of the inning, and Katelyn Norton singled home one regaining the lead for D&E at 3-2. Taylor Norton and Lapallo each added a RBI in the fourth extending the lead to 5-2. UC's Alison Porter drove home one in the fifth, trimming the lead to 5-3. Kayla Dianna walked with the bases-loaded in the bottom of the inning and Taylor Norton lined a bases-clearing double, making the score 9-3. Ursuline struck for the runs in the sixth, closing the gap to 9-6. Daugherty tallied he final run of the day with a sacrifice fly,
Victoria Krystynak (1-1) worked 5.1 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out a pair. Autumn Appleby earned the save, tossing 1.2 innings with a pair of walks and a strikeout.
D&E and Ursuline conclude their series with a single game on Monday at 12 p.m.
