Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus opened conference play with a sweep of Davis & Elkins on Sunday afternoon. The Battlers took game one, 6-2, and claimed a 3-0 decision in the nightcap.
Ryan Dodson put the Senators on top with a RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. AB's Jordan Martin lined a two-run double in the second, making the score 2-1. Travis Hurley tacked on a RBI single in the fifth, and Brandon Gignac roped a two-run double in the sixth, extending the Battler advantage to 5-1. Marquis Collier added a RBI single in the eighth, pushing the score to 6-1. Dodson crossed the plate in the bottom of the inning to set the 6-2 margin.
Noah Jarboe (0-1) surrendered five runs on seven hits, walked four and struck out a pair in five innings of work. Brandon Hammons gave up one unearned run on two hits, striking out two and walking three in four innings.
In game two, Collier singled home a run in the first, Devonte Settles added a RBI single of his own in the fourth and Hurley plated one with a single in the seventh to secure the 3-0 victory.
Tyler Honeycutt (0-3) tossed the complete game, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits, while striking out four and walking three.
Davis & Elkins and Alderson Broaddus wrap-up their four-game set on Monday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
